Issue
What are the common issues for SC Edge?
Answer
Please refer to the explanations below.
Explanation
GNSS Signal issue
If there are issues with GNSS signal or the number of satellites, ensure that the Edge has a clear view of the sky. Ideally, there should be no obstructions above 10 degrees. Buildings, trees, and hills can limit the Edge’s view of the horizon and reduce the number of satellites which can be tracked.
If the Edge has a clear view of the sky and you are still experiencing issues with GNSS signal or the satellite count, ensure there are no large metal objects or electronics which could be causing Electromagnetic Interference.
The same guidance which applies to Edge1 GNSS signal also applies to rovers such as drones or construction equipment. If the drone's sky view is obstructed (for example by the pilot who is standing over it while putting on propellers), the RTK or PPK solution may be affected.
If the problem persists, it may be a sign of damage to the GNSS receiver or the antenna. In this case please contact your local support to diagnose the issue.
Network Connectivity & Firewalls issue
Many operations in the Edge require a network connection. The Edge 1 app shows an LTE signal status in the top right of the screen. If there are issues with any operations which require a network connection, verify that you have a strong LTE signal or are plugged into ethernet.
If the issues persist, there may be a firewall or something else preventing the connection. To troubleshoot the network connection, connect the iPad to the Edge1 WiFi AP and then try to navigate to websites in Safari.
Processing Failures due to Memory or Disk Space
Processing can fail when the Edge1 does not have sufficient memory or disk space. If a processing job fails, the dataset may be too large to process on the Edge1. Processing also requires a significant amount of disk space (depending on the size of the dataset). If a processing job fails, verify that the device has sufficient disk space. (We recommend to keep at least 25% free) Old datasets can be removed to free up space.
