Explanation

In preparation of a drone flight we need to draw a flight plan.
The photogrammetry process requires sufficient overlap in the zone that is to be surveyed to assure the required quality.

Creating a .KML file compared to using the DJI controller

PROs:

• Higher accuracy compared to creating flight plan on DJI controller.
• Convenient when having to keep exact distances from objects for safety regulations, personal preference...
  By using the ruler button in the tool bar in Google Earth Pro, you can set circles, lines, etc. around objects to maintain these distances.

CONs:

• DJI controller only accepts up to 125 waypoints included in the .kml file, so your polygon shape must be 'simple' enough to be handled by the controller.
• Extra step: you have to import the .kml file in the DJI controller.
